The neat - regrettably single but nevertheless scarcely found! - WH (Heeres) shoulderboard is a typical, 'text-book'-example of the Heeres'-type shoulderboard and shows the silverish-grey-coloured (ie. somewhat 'sub-dued'-type-) 'upperdeck': the board was (I deem) with certainty issued but simply never worn and does show some moderate storage-age and/or staining (as can be seen on the pictures). The board shows the desirable darker-purple-red- (ie. 'bordeaux-roter'-) coloured branchcolour (and was constructed from the 'smooth-type' wool as to be expected). The board never had a tongue attached and was intended for usage as a board of the 'sew-in'-type (as can be seen on the pictures). The board measures approximately 11 cms. in length and shows a (golden-toned, larger-sized- and zinc-based) '2'-numeral (ie. 'Ziffer') period-attached denoting the officers'-rank of: 'Leutnant' (ie. lieutnant). The device is just minimally stained- ie. tarnished but has preserved a fine and fairly bright- (and/or somewhat matted) age-patina (as can be seen on the pictures). Taking into account, the fact that this board has the somewhat 'sub-dued'-type 'upperdeck' I deem that it was a board that was intended to be used on a regular 'front-used'-tunic: it was most certainly issued but was simply never worn nor used. It should also be mentioned that these officers'-pattern, 'Nebelwerfer'- (ie. army smoke-troops-) related shoulderboards are actually quite hard to come by and can easily be graded 'scarce'. Simply an attractive WH (Heeres) shoulderboard that belonged a: 'Leutnant des Nebelwerfer-Regiments 2'!
