This is an attractive - and this complete not that easily found! - 'Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen in Silber' (or: silver-class infantry assault-badge) - which is as stated above nicely 'R.S.'-marked on its back as more often encountered with awards by this Austrian maker - is a typical piece as was produced by the: 'Rudolf Souval'-company based in the town of Wien (ie. Vienna) in Austria. The badge - which has truly pronounced detaill - comes naturally mounted onto its functional (and/or fully unaltered!) catch, pin- and/or hinge (-set-up) as to be expected. The piece - which is also referred to as a: 'small mark'-variant - is executed from greyish-coloured zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based metal and has maintained a neat (somewhat darkened ie. tarnished) silverish-grey-coloured- and/or typical 'zinc-based' finish (as to be expected). The badge - which was presumably issued but that was I deem never worn - shows some (storage)age only and was never cleaned nor polished: it has a nice, somewhat darkened age-patina (as can be seen on the pictures). The piece was recently found at a private household in Germany and came stored in its period, beige-coloured- and/or 'Zellstoff'-based, so-called: 'LDO'-pouch as issued. This pouch shows the 'LDO'-logo printed onto its front and shows a red-coloured ink-stamp that reads: 'Infanterie Sturm-Abzeichen - Silber': moreover, does it show the printed text: 'Rudolf Souval - Wien 62/VII' on its back (as can be seen on the pictures). The pouch is complete and functional and is void of any damage nor wear. These desirable - and neatly maker-marked! - 'variant'- ie. 'classic set-up-' IABs as produced by the 'Souval'-company can easily be graded 'fairly scarce': even more so when they come in such a completely untouched and complete condition as this example!
