Neat, WH (Kriegsmarine) 'Kriegsabzeichen für Minensuch-, U-Boot-Jagd und Sicherungs-Verbände' being a detailed and maker- (ie. 'L/53') marked, 'Feinzink'-based example as was produced by the 'Hymmen & Co.'-company
This is a neat - truly used but actully scarcely encountered! - example of a WH (Kriegsmarine) so-called: 'Kriegsabzeichen für Minensuch-, U-Boot-Jagd und Sicherungs-Verbände' (or: mine-sweeper war-badge) being a detailed- (neatly maker- ie. 'L/53'-marked- and I deem somewhat later-war-pattern) specimen, as was executed in multi-coloured zinc-based metal (ie. 'Feinzink') and that comes in an overall nice (albeit clearly worn- ie. used-), condition. The badge, which has pronounced detail, comes naturally mounted onto its functional (and/or vertically mounted- and 'flute-shaped' pin-, catch and/or typically-shaped pin-attachment (as is more often the case). The piece was presumably never cleaned ie. polished and has regrettably losy most of its (very light-coloured- and most certainly over the years 'faded-away'-) golden- and/or silver-coloured finish: just some period finish is visible on its back. The badge shows a typical, pin- (ie. catch-) attachment and can easily be attributed to the desirable maker: 'Hymmen & Co.' As based in the town of Lüdenscheid (something that can also be corroborated by the presence of the 'L/53'-designation. The piece shows various period-engraved initials on its back (as can be noticed on the pictures). Simply an attractive, 'variant-pattern' KM war-badge by the 'Hymmen & Co.'-company that comes in a truly used condition and that is (I deem) accordingly priced!
