Superb - and truly rarely encountered! - 'Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse' (ie. Iron Cross 2nd Class) being a so-called: 'Übergrösse'-variant (ie. over-sized ie. 47 mm. sized-example) as was produced by the: 'Frank u. Reif'-company
This is a truly rarely encountered - and very desirable! - item: an 'Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse' (ie. Iron Cross 2nd Class) being a so-called: 'Übergrösse'-variant (ie. over-sized ie. 47 mm. sized-) example as was produced by the: 'Frank u. Reif'-company as based in the town of Stuttgart/Zuffenhausen (as always) and that comes in an overall very nice- (and I deem issued- albeit hardly worn- nor even mounted-), condition. These over-sized IC examples - which are always unmarked - are approximately the same size as a Knights'-Cross (or: 'Ritterkreuz des Eisernes Kreuzes') and measure 47 mm. instead of the regular 42/43 mm. as found on 'regular-sized' ICs. The difference in size is obvious and even more so if compared with a 'standard-sized' example of an 'Eisernes Kreuz' (see pictures). This piece on offer here has never been cleaned and shows a nice (blackened- and somewhat 'satin-like'-) patina and has totally undamaged, black-coloured inner-core-section (I deem that it was once issued but simply never worn nor even mounted). The attractive piece came together with its (minty!) long-sized (full-length- ie. 29 cms. long-sized-) ribbon (ie. 'Bandabschitt') as issued and/or stored for decades. As stated above has the cross great and very fine detail: it is just a bit 'tarnished' over the years and has never been cleaned (it is just a tiny bit dusty). Simply a very nice - and truly rarely encountered! - IC-related item!
