Attractive - truly used- and regrettably incomplete - example of a WH (Heeres ie. Waffen-SS) 'Demjansk'-campaign-shield as executed in typical magnetic, so-called: 'Eisenblech' (and being of the 'missing-log' variant-pattern)
This is an attractive - truly used- and regrettably incomplete but still quite detailed! - example of the (actually nowadays scarcely encountered!) WH (Heeres ie. Waffen-SS) so-called: 'Demjansk'-campaign-shield being of the 'missing-log' variant-pattern that comes in an overall nice- (albeit cleary used- and most certainly once tunic-attached-), condition. The (magnetic and minimally converse-shaped) shield - which is executed in greyish-silver-coloured so-called: 'Eisenblech' - comes as recently found: it misses all its prongs (and back-plate) and shows 3 (period-punched!) holes with which it was once tunic-attached (as can be seen on the pictures). The shield shows some minimal aging caused by storage and fair wear: some minimal staining is visible and/or present but the shield still retains nice detail as to be expected. The shield was recently found at a private-household in Germany and was simply stored as such for decades: it was never before part of a collection. It should furthermore be mentioned that these 'Demjansk'-campaign-shields are nowadays hard to come by. Simply a neat - albeit incomplete but nevertheless 100% original! - example of this collectable and desirable campaign-shield that nowadays is not that often offered for sale: I deem that I have priced this 'relic'-example accordingly!
