Superb - and fully matching! - pair of WH (Heeres) officers'-pattern, 'cyphered' shoulderstraps as piped in golden-yellow as was intended for usage by an: 'Oberleutnant einer Kavallerie o. Aufklärungs-Regiments'
This is an attractive - neatly 'cyphered' and actually truly scarcely found! - pair of WH (Heeres) officers'-pattern shoulderboards as was intended for usage by an: 'Oberleutnant einer Kavallerie o. Aufklärungs-Regiments' (ie. lieutnant first-class who served within a reconnaisance ie. cavalry-related unit) and that comes in a overall very nice- (and I deem hardly used- nor worn-), condition. The boards are typical, 'text-book'-examples of the 'Heeres'-type shoulderboards and have the silverish-grey- (ie. somewhat 'shiny'-type-) 'upperdecks': they were with certainty issued and/or worn as such and do show some minimal age, wear and/or staining (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards show the desirable darker-golden-yellow- (ie. 'goldgelbener'-) coloured branchcolour (and were constructed from the 'smooth-type' woolas can be noticed on the pictures). The boards come mounted onto their (smaller-sized, typical officers'-pattern tongues (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards measure approximately 10,8 cms. in length each and show a matching pair of (larger-sized, Gothic-styled- and/or typical 'Buntmetall'-based) so-called: 'A'-cyphers (ie. 'Ziffern') and two (neatly golden-toned, larger-sized- and/or also 'Buntmetall'-based) pips period-attached denoting the officers'-rank of an: 'Obertleutnant' (ie. lieutnant first-class). All four devices are just minimally stained- ie. tarnished but have preserved a fine and fairly bright- (albeit minimally darkened) age-patina (as can be seen on the pictures). Taking into account, the fact that this pair has the somewhat 'shiny'-type 'upperdecks' I deem that it was a pair that was intended to be used on a dress- (ie. summer- or 'Ausgeh'- (ie. dress) tunic. It should also be mentioned that these officers'-pattern, 'Kavallerie'- (ie. army cavalry- ie. reconnaissance troops-) related shoulderboards are actually quite difficult to come by and can easily be graded 'scarce'. Simply a very attractive - and neatly 'cyphered'! - WH (Heeres) shoulderboard-pair that belonged an: an: 'Oberleutnant einer Kavallerie o. Aufklärungs-Regiments'!
