The attractive - and carefully tunic-removed! - shoulderboards are typical, 'text-book'-examples of the Heeres'-type, officers'-pattern shoulderboards and have the silverish-grey- (ie. somewhat 'sub-dued'-type-) 'upperdecks': they were most certainly once tunic-attached and show some minimal age and/or staining (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards show the desirable bright-red- (ie. 'hochroter'-) coloured (and were constructed from the 'smooth-type'- ie. 'moleskin-type'-wool as to be expected). The boards never had any tongues attached and were clearly intended (and used!) as a pair of the 'sew-in'-pattern (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards measure approximately 11,7 cms. in length each and never had any numerals (ie. 'Ziffern') attached but do show a (matching, tarnished-golden-toned and/or zinc- ie.'Feinzink'-based) pair of pips period-attached (as can be seen on the pictures) denoting that the officer who wore this set held the rank of: 'Oberleutnant' (ie. lieutnant first-class). Taking into account the fact that this pair has the somewhat 'sub-dued'-type 'upperdecks' I deem that it was a pair that was intended to be used on a regular 'front-tunic'. Simply an attractive WH (Heeres) shoulderboard-pair that belonged to an: 'Oberleutnant eines (Sturm)Artillerie-Regiments o. Abteilungs' and that is accordingly priced!
