The attractive - and actually truly scarcely found! - 'high-ranked' and neatly 'cyphered' WH (Heeres) shoulderboards are typical, 'text-book'-examples of the Heeres'-type shoulderboards and have the silverish-grey- (ie. somewhat 'sub-dued'-type-) 'upperdecks': they were with certainty issued and/or worn as such and do show some moderate age, wear and/or staining (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards show the desirable darker-golden-yellow- (ie. 'goldgelbener'-) coloured branchcolour (and were constructed from the 'smooth-type' linnen as can be noticed on the pictures). The boards never had any tongues and were clearly intended as a pair of the 'sew-in'-pattern (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards measure approximately 10 cms. in length each and show a matching pair of (smaller-sized, Gothic-styled- and/or 'Buntmetall'-based) so-called: 'S'-cyphers (ie. 'Ziffern'), a pair of equally-styled '6'-numerals and two matching sets of (neatly golden-toned, larger-sized- and/or also 'Buntmetall'-based) pips period-attached denoting the (high) officers'-rank of an: 'Oberstleutnant' (ie. lieutnant-colonel). All six devices are just minimally stained- ie. tarnished but have preserved a fine and fairly bright- (albeit minimally darkened) age-patina (as can be seen on the pictures). Taking into account, the fact that this pair has the somewhat 'sub-dued'-type 'upperdecks' I deem that it was a pair that was intended to be used on a regular 'front-used'-tunic. The pair came with a set of (silver-toned) buttons (ie. 'Knöpfe'). It should also be mentioned that these officers'-pattern, 'Kavallerie'- (ie. army cavalry- ie. reconnaissance troops-) related shoulderboards are actually quite difficult to come by and can easily be graded 'scarce'. Simply a very attractive - and neatly 'cyphered'! - WH (Heeres) shoulderboard-pair that belonged an: 'Oberstleutnant des Kavallerie o. Aufklärungs-Schützen-Regiments 6'!
