Superb, bright-golden-toned- (I deem zinc- ie. 'Feinzink'-based) 'Gebirgsjäger'-related item: a semi-official - and with certainty rarely encountered! - commemorative-medal (ie. talisman or: 'Url') entitled: 'Kreta - 15. This is a very attractive so-called: 'Gebirgsjäger'-related item: a semi-official - and with certainty rarely encountered! - commemorative-medal (ie. luck-bringer or talisman ie. 'Url') that is showing an illustration of a Viking-ship on its front (and an 'Edelweiss'-flower on its back) and that is entitled: 'Kreta - 15. G.J.R. 100' and that comes in an overall nice- (albeit just moderately used- ie. worn-), condition. The detailed medal-shaped badge is a typical zinc- (ie. 'Feinzink'-) based example that shows a bright-golden-toned- ie. somewhat tarnished finish (which has been nicely preserved but that shows some obvious wear and/or age: the piece retains, however, still nice and/or pronounced detail and comes as worn and recently found). I know that these desirable 'semi-official'-medals are also copied: this is naturally a 100% genuine example that was never before part of a collection and originates from a German private-household. There is not much known about these commemorative 'medals' but they were most certainly 'souvenir'-pieces that could (presumably) be privately-purchased by the soldiers active in this specific war-area. In any case a nice and surely scarcely seen 'Gebirgsjäger'- (ie. Kreta-) related item that is with certainty accordingly priced!
