Neat - albeit regrettably single! - WH (Heeres) 'cyphered' and high-ranked officers'-type shoulderboard as was intended for an: 'Oberst des Infanterie-Regiments 56'
This is an attractive - albeit regrettably single! - WH (Heeres) 'cyphered', officers'-type shoulderboard as executed in the white- (ie. 'weisser'-) coloured branchcolour as was specifically intended for - and clearly worn by! - an: 'Oberst des Infanterie-Regiments 56' (or: full colonel who served within- ie. possibly even commanded - the infantry-regiment, numbered: '56') and that comes in an overall very nice- (albeit clearly used ie. tunic-removed-) condition. The board - which is executed in the 'smooth'-like- and/or white-coloured wool (aka 'moleskin') - measures approximately 10,3 cms. in length and has a fairly 'sub-dued'- ie. silver-grey-coloured 'upperdeck' (that shows moderate age and/or wear). The board never had a tongue attached and was clearly used as a board of the 'sew-in'-type. The board shows two neatly golden-toned (and 'Buntmetall'-based) pips and equally-styled cyphers (ie. 'Ziffern' or numerals): '5' and/or '6' period-attached: all four devices are minimally tarnished and/or stained but are still very nice and/or pronounced. This particular example originated from a larger cloth- ie. shoulderstrap-collection I recently acquired for the web-site. Simply an attractive - and actually scarcely encountered! - officers'-type, 'cyphered' shoulderboard as was intended for usage by an: 'Oberst des Infanterie-Regiments 56': too bad it is only a single specimen!
