This is an attractive - and quite detailed! - example of the Romanian (WWII-period-issued) medal: 'Medaille für Mannhaftigkeit und Treue in Silber' (or: Medal for manhood and loyalty with crossed swords, 2nd class ie. 'Medalia Bãrbãtie si Credintã cu spadele încruciate, clasa 2a') and that comes mounted onto its original ribbon ie. 'Bandabschnitt' and that comes in an overall very nice- (and I deem hardly worn albeit certainly issued-), condition. This medal - which was a war-decoration that was awarded for bravery in the face of the enemy - was instituted as early as 1916 and is often found among German (WWII-period-) medal-groups since it was often bestowed to Romania's allies. The medal on offer here is very detailed and has a neat and somewhat tarnished age-patina: it comes mounted onto its original, colourfull ribbon as issued. This medal is also known in Romanian language as: 'Medalia Bãrbãtie si Credintã cu spadele încruciate' and shows on the front the King Carol I facing left, circumscribed by the text: 'Carol I. Rege Al României' (or: Carol I King of Romania): the reverse shows the inscribed text: 'Bãrbãtie si Credintã' (or Manhood and Loyalty) showing a laurel branch below. The piece is a tiny bit dusty but was most certainly never cleaned nor polished. The award was recently found at a German private-household and was most certainly a piece that was once awarded to a German soldier ie. NCO. In any case a nice foreign award of one of Germanys allies and that is I deem accordingly priced!
