Very unusual - and most certainly rarely encountered! - example of a: 'Weimar Republik o. Freikorps'-related: 'Einwohnerwehr Deutschlands' belt-buckle being a maker- (ie. 'CTH'-) marked specimen
This is a truly attractive - very unusual and most certainly rarely encountered! - example of a post-WWI-war-period- (ie. 'Weimar Republik o. Freikorps'-related-) so-called: 'Einwohnerwehr Deutschlands' (which can be translated as: German neighbourhood-watch-association), steel-based- (ie. golden 'coated') belt-buckle being a 'single-pieced'- and/or maker- (ie. 'CTH'-) marked specimen and that comes in an overall nice- (albeit moderately worn- and/or totally uncleaned-), condition. The buckle is a typical 'single-pieced'-constructed example having an integrated 'front-plate' that shows a detailed illustration of a larger-sized eagle or falcon 'watching-over' a German city or town. The buckle which is still a bit dirty and that does show some dust and/or staining as acquired over the years comes in a wonderful and totally uncleaned condition. The buckle was (luckily) never cleaned nor polished and still does show some dust ie. staining as acquired over the years. The buckle shows a clearly-present makers'-designation ie. logo (that shows the characters 'CTH' in a box) and shows nice and/or pronounced detail but also shows the obvious signs of having been moderately worn (it is still a bit dusty as found and comes as stored for decades). Next to the makers-designation does this piece also shows a: 'Ges.Gesch.'-patent-pending-marking (as can be noticed on the pictures). There is not that much known about this post-WWI-war association named 'Einwohnerwehr Deutschlands': there were various German cities that formed their own local neighbourhood-watch-association in the early twenties: this belt-buckle was surely intended for one of these associations. Simply an attractive example of a: 'Weimar Republik o. Freikorps'-related, so-called: 'Einwohnerwehr Deutschlands'-belt-buckle that would most certainly merit further investigatie work and research!
