This is an attractive example of an - actually scarcely encountered! - WH (Heeres- ie. Waffen-SS) 'Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen in Bronze' (or: bronze-class, infantry assault badge ie. IAB) being a neatly maker- (ie.'FZZ'- ie. 'Fritz Zimmermann'-) marked example that comes in an issued- (and/or moderately used-), condition. The badge - which is minimally 'vaulted' ie. 'converse' as always - is a typical example as was produced by the: 'Fritz Zimmermann'-company based in the town of Stuttgart. The badge (which is as stated neatly maker-marked with the abbreviation: 'FZZ' on its back) has great pronounced detail and retains most of its (neatly darker-bronze-coloured) finish. The IAB is just a bit tarnished and stained but was (I deem) never cleaned nor polished. It comes naturally mounted on its functional pin- ie. catch set-up but has a period-altered (ie. replaced) catch (as can be seen on the pictures). It should be noted that these by 'Fritz Zimmermann' produced bronze-class IABs are much harder to encounter than their silver counterparts. Simply an attractive bronze-class IAB that is priced according to its realtered catch!
