Attractive - and fully matching! - pair of WH (Heeres) neatly 'cyphered', officers'-pattern shoulderboards as piped in bright-yellow as was intended for a: 'Major des Gebirgskorps-Nachrichten-Abteilungs 70'
The attractive - and actually fairly scarcely found! - 'higher-ranked' (and neatly 'cyphered'!) WH officers'-pattern shoulderboards are typical, 'text-book'-examples of the Heeres'-type shoulderboards and have the silver-greyish- (ie. truly somewhat 'sub-dued'-type-) 'upperdecks': they were with certainty issued and/or worn as such and do show some moderate age, wear and/or staining (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards show the desirable bright-yellow- (ie. 'zitronengelbener'-) coloured branchcolour (and were constructed from the 'smooth-type' wool as can be noticed on the pictures). The pair never had any tongues attached and were most certainly used as a pair of the 'sew-in'-pattern: they were carefully tunic-removed (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards measure approximately 12 cms. in length each and show each a (fully matching, bright-golden-toned, larger-sized and/or 'Buntmetall'-based) so-called: '7'- and/or: '0'-cyphers (ie. 'Ziffern') period-attached denoting the (fairly high) officers'-rank of: 'Major'. Both devices are just minimally stained- ie. tarnished but have preserved a fine and fairly bright- (albeit minimally darkened) age-patina (as can be seen on the pictures). Taking into account, the fact that this pair has the somewhat 'sub-dued'-type 'upperdecks' I deem that it was a pair that was intended to be used on a regular 'front-used'-tunic. It should be mentioned that these officers'-pattern, 'Nachrichten'- (ie. army signal-troops-) related shoulderboards are actually quite difficult to come by and can easily be graded 'fairly scarce'. Simply a very attractive - and neatly 'cyphered'! - WH (Heeres) shoulderboard-pair that belonged a: 'Major des Gebirgskorps-Nachrichten-Abteilungs 70'!
