This is a very attractive - albeit I deem minimally worn- ie. used - example of a magnetic, 'Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse' (or: Iron Cross 1st class) being a clearly maker- (ie. 'L/53'-) marked example as was produced by the desirable maker (ie. 'Hersteller') named: 'Hymmen & Co.' (ie. 'Hersteller 139' ) and that comes an overall very nice- (albeit just minimally used and/or worn-), condition. The magnetic cross a nice (and minimally darkened) age-patina and retains truly great detail: the black-coloured core shows hardly any staining and is truly fully preserved: it is void of any paint-loss (as can be seen on the pictures). The piece has lost most of its so-called: 'hochpolierte Kanten' (or: polished sides) and is just a bit tarnished by age. The (flute-shaped) pin and catch (ie. set-up) are naturally unaltered and/or fully functional. The cross - which is a minimally-vaulted example as more often - is as stated above clearly maker- (ie. 'L/53'-) marked example (as can be seen on the pictures). Simply a very attractive IC1 by a scarcely encountered maker that was never before in a collection and that is with certainty accordingly priced!
