Superb - and nowadays scarcely encountered! - WH (Heeres) 'Narvik'-campaign-shield as executed in greyish-silver-toned 'Feinzink' and that comes in an issued- (and just minimally worn- ie. I deem once tunic-attached-), condition
This is an attractive - and nowadays not that easily found! - WH (Heeres) 'Narvik'-campaign-shield as was produced by a (by me) unidentified maker and being a very detailed example as was executed in greyish-silver-toned (and naturally non-magnetic) metal (ie. zinc- or 'Feinzink') and that comes in an issued- and moderately used- (ie. with certainty worn- ie. once tunic-attached-), condition. The (non-magnetic) shield comes complete with its original 'back-plate' and shows a piece of field-grey-coloured wool änd retains all its four period-mounted prongs (of which all four of them are present). Its period-attached 'backing'-paper (which is constructed of a piece of typical beige-coloured paper) is also present and still shows some of the stitching-holes with which the shield was once tunic-attached (as can be seen on the pictures). The shield shows some regular aging and/or tarnish caused by years of storage but has nevertheless retained extraordinary detail. Most of its (somewhat tarnished) greyish-silver-toned finish has been nicely preserved: the silver-toned finish has just faded-away (ie. migriert) as more often seen with thes zinc-based shields (as can be seen on the pictures). The shield was with certainty never cleaned nor polished and comes as recently found. Simply a very attractive and naturally 100% garuanteed original, 'Heeres'-pattern 'Narvik'-campaign-shield that is priced according to its comparative rarity and/or desirability!
