Superb - and truly rarely encountered! - WH (Heeres) 'Truppentraditions-Abzeichen o. Ehrennadel der 539. Infanterie-Division' being a maker- (ie. 'Deschler - München'-) marked example as executed in silvered metal (ie. 'Buntmetall')
This attractive - and truly rarely seen! - 'Heeres-Traditionsabzeichen' (or: 'Ehrennadel' as also known) is executed in silver-toned, metal (ie. 'Buntmetall') and that comes in an overall very nice- (albeit worn and/or used-), condition. The piece was with certainty worn as such and originates from a private-household in Germany. The small-sized badge - having an approximate height of of only 2,5 cms. - depicts a upward-positioned sword mounted onto a swastika and depicting the text: '539. Div.' and has never been cleaned nor polished but nevertheless shows great detail: it has a somewhat dirty ie. 'tarnished' age-patina. As possiblly known, were these (semi-official) badges also properly entered in the 'Wehrpass' and/or 'Soldbuch': they also were handed-out with a semi-official award-document (ie. 'Einlage zum Soldbuch'). This decorative 'Heeres-Traditionsabzeichen' is also mentioned in the Heering-Hüsken-'Abzeichenkatalog' wherein it is given the unique reference-number '9834' and given an estimated value of 350 Eu(!). These neat Heeres-related 'Traditionsabzeichen' can easily be graded 'rare': I deem that I have priced this attractive 'Ehrennadel' accordingly!
