Attractive, bright-golden-toned, Bulgarian WWII-period military-officers'-cross: 'For Military Merit - IV class' (or: in Bulgarian- ie. Cyrilic language: “Орденъ за Военна Заслуга”) that comes in its period case as issued
These neat - and most certainly decorative! - bright-golden-toned, Bulgarian, WWII-period military-crosses: 'For Merit' (or: in Bulgarian language: “Орденъ за Военна Заслуга”) were merely awarded to commisioned staff (ie. officers) for exceptional actions in the face of remarkable danger. The example on offer here, is - I deem - a specimen of the fourth class of this award (something that can be deducted from both the golden-toned finish as as well as the separately attached 'crown-hanger'). The piece came mounted onto its nicely confectioned- (ie. pre-folded-) piece of period ribbon (ie. 'Bandabschnitt') and was nicely preserved: it was never polished nor cleaned and is still a tiny bit dirty but very detailed. It retains a neat, only minimally tarnised golden-toned finish but regrettably shows some enamel-damage on one of the arms on its back (as can be seen on the pictures). The attractive medal was recently found as such at a private-household and was uncovered amongst some other belongings of an (regrettably not named) German officer. The attractive award came stored in its (bright-red-coloured- and semi-leather-based) etui that shows the embossed monogram of Tsar Boris III above a Bulgarian Cyrillic inscription that reads: “Орденъ за Военна Заслуга”. This etui measures approx. 14 x 7 x 2,5 cms. and retains its (beige-white-coloured) velvet-based inner-section: it does show some obvious age, wear and/or staining (as can be seen on the pictures). Simply a very decorative Bulgarian, WWII-period military officers-type cross of the fourth class: 'For Merit' that is with certainty accordingly priced!
