Stunning 'Eisernes Kreuz 2. Kl.' (ie. Iron Cross 2nd Class) being a so-called: 'Übergrosse'-variant (ie. over-sized ie. 47 mm. sized-example) that comes stored in its period, 'Zellstoff'-based pouch as was produced by the: 'Frank u. Reif'-company
This is a truly rarely encountered item: an 'Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse' (ie. Iron Cross 2nd Class) being a so-called: 'Übergrosse'-variant (ie. over-sized ie. 47 mm. sized-) example as was produced by the: 'Frank u. Reif'-company (as always) that comes stored in its period, 'Zellstoff'-based pouch and that comes in an overall very nice- (and I deem issued- albeit simply never worn nor mounted- ie. 'virtually mint'-), condition. These over-sized IC examples - which are always unmarked - are approximately the same size as a Knights'-cross (or: 'Ritterkreuz des Eisernes Kreuzes') and measure 47 mm. instead of the regular 42/43 mm. as found on 'regular-sized' IC-second-class. The difference in size is obvious and even more so if compared with a standard-sized 'Eisernes Kreuz'. This piece on offer here has never been cleaned and shows a superb (blackened- and somewhat 'satin-like'-) patina and shows a totally undamaged, black-coloured inner-core-section (I deem that it was once issued but simply never worn: it does show, however, some regular storage-age). The attractive piece came stored in its accompanying, blue-coloured 'Zellstoff'-based pouch (and also still had its piece of thin-shaped wrapping-paper) together with its long-sized (full-length- ie. 29 cms. long-sized-) ribbon (ie. 'Bandabschitt') as issued and/or stored for decades. As stated above has the cross great and very fine detail: it is just a bit 'tarnished' over the years and has never been cleaned (it is just a tiny bit dusty). Simply a very nice and truly rarely encountered IC-related item: simply the best such 'Übergrosse'-IC-set I ever had on offer!
