Superb - and actually rarely seen! - aluminium-based, WH (Heeres) ie. 'Panzer'- (ie. DAK!-) related ID-disc bearing the clearly stamped unit-designation that simply reads: '3.Pz.Ers.Abt. 5' and that comes mounted onto a leather pouch
This is an attractive - and actually scarcely seen! - example of a silver-coloured- and/or typical aluminium-based, WH (Heeres) ie. 'Panzer'- (ie. DAK-) related ID-disc (ie. 'Erkennungsmarke') that is bearing the clearly stamped unit-designation that simply reads: '3.Pz.Ers.Abt. 5' (and as such belonging to a soldier (or NCO ie. officer) who served within the: '3. Kompanie' of the: 'Panzer Ersatz-Abteilung 5' (or: third company of the: tank replacement-unit, numbered: '5'). The disc comes in an overall very nice (albeit clearly used ie. worn-), condition (and is executed in an attractive letter-type!) and shows the clear evidence of having been used ie. worn: of additional interest is, moreover, the fact that it came (period)mounted onto a (privately constructed) leather-pouch that was (presumably intended for storage of a pay-book or: 'Soldbuch'): this somewhat crudely-made pouch shows the inked text: 'Afrika 6.IV.43' (as can be seen on the pictures). The disc shows the bearers'-blood-group-type ('Type A') and shows a clearly stamped bearers-numeral that reads: '5165'. The disc was never cleaned nor polished (it is still a bit stained and/or dirty) and came mounted onto a piece of cord. The disc originates from a private-household in Germany where it was recently uncovered. Simply an attractive and honest WH (Heeres) ie. 'Panzer'- (ie. Afrika-) related ID-disc that belonged to a soldier serving with the: '3.Pz.Ers.Abt. 5'!
