Commemorative, reddish-bronze-toned- (and I deem 'Buntmetall'-based) - TR-period sports-plaque (ie. 'Erinnerungs- o. nichttragbare Auszeichnungsplakette') showing the text: 'Nationale Arnoldi Kampfspiele Gotha - Arnoldi 1901 - 27-8-1939'
This is an attractive - and with certainty not that often seen! - (bright) reddish-bronze-toned- (and I deem 'Buntmetall'-based) - TR-period sports-plaque (ie. 'Erinnerungs- o. nichttragbare Auszeichnungsplakette') showing on its front a (detailed!) sportsman and on its back the superimposed text: 'Nationale Arnoldi Kampfspiele Gotha - Arnoldi 1901 - 27-8-1939' coupled with a swastika and that comes as stored for decades and that comes in an overall wonderful and truly nicely preserved, condition. The neat - medium-sized- and/or regular-weight-piece (having an approximate diameter of 4,5 cms.) has truly pronounced detail and was never cleaned nor polished: it has maintained a neat typical, reddish-bronze-toned age-patina (but also shows some minimal tarnish as can be seen on the pictures). The back of the medal shows a superimposed text (as can be seen on the pictures). The piece came as issued and/or stored for decades. These attractive - I deem - semi-official - sports'-presentation-pieces were presumably used as some sort of awards and were handed-out during a specific sports-contest held in the town of Gotha (named: the 'Nationale Arnoldi Kampfspiele') as held in the year 1939. Simply an attractive - and with certainty unusually encountered! - TR-period, sports-related table-medal ie. 'Erinnerungs- o. nichttragbare Auszeichnungsplakette' that might merit some further investigative work!
