Neat - and fully matching! - pair of 'cyphered', WH (Heeres) officers'-type shoulderboards as was intended for - and clearly used by! - a: 'Hauptmann des Pionier-Bataillons 2'
The attractive - and only moderately used and worn! - pair is piped in the typical black- (ie. 'schwarzer'-) coloured branchcolour and was as such intended for a: 'Hauptmann des Pionier-Bataillons 2' (or: captain who served within the army engineers-bataillon, numbered '2') and that comes in an overall very nice- (I deem clearly issued- and/or carefully tunic-removed-), condition. The shoulderboards are truly 'text-book'-examples of the 'Heeres'-type, 'Pioniere'-shoulderboards and have the silver-coloured (ie. somewhat sub-dued-) 'upperdecks' (making this a pair that was most likely intended for usage on a regular 'front-used'-tunic). The boards show the desirable black- (ie. 'schwarzer'-) coloured branchcolour (and were constructed from the 'smooth'-type wool as to be expected). The boards never had any tongues and were clearly intended to be used as a pair of the 'sew-in-'type and were carefully removed from a tunic (as can be seen on the pictures). The boards - which have four (matching, larger-sized- and/or: bright-golden-toned) pips and a pair of (matching, smaller-sized- and/or: bright-golden-toned) '2'-numerals period-attached - measure approximately 11,4 cms. in length each and do show some minimal age, wear and/or staining as to be expected. Simply an attractive shoulderboard-pair that belonged to a: 'Hauptmann des Pionier-Bataillons 2'!
