Interesting, later-war-period WH (Luftwaffe-, Heeres etc.-) related, hand-carved and wooden-based 'souvenir'- (ie. cigarette?) box depicting a jumping elk and showing the engraved text: 'Minsk - 1944'
The neat - and unusally seen! - typical wooden-based hand-carved 'souvenir'- (ie. cigarette?) box is depicting a jumping elk and is showing the engraved text: 'Minsk - 1944': It is void of any makers'-designation (as more often) and is still functional. The piece - which measures 11,5 x 8 x 3 cms. - is truly nicely fabricated (ie. 'cut-out') and is a neat example of the shown craftmenship: I deem that it originates from a local (Russian) production and is a clear example of the type of 'souvenir-items' that could be acquired by the troops serving in that area. The piece is nicely preserved and is void of any damage or alike (as can be seen on the pictures). These neat 'souvenir'-items could be privately purchased from local artisans and were very popular amongst the troops. Simply a neat - and naturally 100% genuine! - 'souvenir'- (ie. cigarette?) box that originates from a German private-household where it was recently uncovered!
