Attractive - and with certainty scarcely encountered! - golden-bronze-toned- ie. 'Buntmetall'-based, so-called: commemorative-sports'-plaque (ie. 'Erinnerungs- o. nichttragbare Medaille') bearing the text: 'D.R.f.L. - Gau XVII - Fachamt Schwimmen'
This is an attractive - and with certainty not that often- ie. scarcely encountered! - golden-bronze-toned- (ie. IMO 'Buntmetall'-based-) so-called: commemorative-sports'-plaque (ie. 'Erinnerungs- o. nichttragbare Sport-Medaille') showing the DRL- (ie. 'Deutschen Reichsbund für Leibesübungen'-) eagle-device and bearing the (super-imposed) text: 'D.R.f.L. - Gau XVII - Fachamt Schwimmen - Gaumeisterschaften Gmunden 1938' and that comes in a wonderfull and fully untouched condition. The neat - smaller-sized- and regular-weight-piece (sized: 4,4 x 3,7 cms.) has pronounced detail and was IMO never cleaned nor polished: it has maintained a neat (somewhat glossy-) golden-bronze-toned age-patina (but also shows some minimal tarnish - see pictures). The back shows a (pencilled) date that reads: '24-VII-1938' and shows the engraved (Roman) numeral: 'III' (as can be seen on the pictures). This award-plaque was rendered to commemorate a sports'-event ie. swimming-contest held in the town of Gmunden in the year 1938. The piece originates from a private household in Germany where it was recently uncovered as issued and stored for decades (see pictures). Simply a very attractive and with certainty unusually encountered table-medal ie. 'Erinnerungs- o. nichttragbare Sport-Medaille' that is accordingly priced!
